Zagreb's ZET Unveils 62 New Electric Buses Funded With EU Support

The new fleet was presented at ZET's Podsused facility, where Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomašević officially opened the new electric vehicle charging station. The fleet consists of 30 standard buses, 26 articulated buses and six midi buses, with a total procurement value of almost €56.8 million. Around €45.4 million of the cost has been secured through European Union funds under Croatia's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.

A further €11.4 million has been provided from other sources. Citizens of Zagreb will notice the new buses from Monday, as there are 62 of them, Tomašević said, noting that around 300 buses operate daily during the busiest timetable following the start of the school year. The arrival of the new buses means that around one-fifth of ZET's entire bus fleet will now be electric.

The new charging facility in Podsused features 67 double chargers, providing 134 charging spaces, alongside new electrical and control infrastructure. A total of 41 kilometres of cable has been installed, while around 8,500 square metres of land has been arranged as part of the project.
