Mozambican President and Outgoing Congolese Ambassador Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

The process was discussed on Wednesday in Maputo during a farewell audience granted by Mozambican President Daniel Chapo to the outgoing Congolese Ambassador, Constant-Serge Bounda, at the end of his diplomatic mission in the country. Bounda highlighted the historical ties between the two states, which he called brothers, expressing satisfaction at the opportunity to bid farewell to the Mozambican head of state and reaffirm the bonds between the two peoples. According to Bounda, the Grand Joint Commission will be preceded by a consultation between the two countries, with the process culminating in President Sassou Nguesso's visit to Mozambique.

The initiative is expected to consolidate political dialogue and identify new areas of cooperation. The diplomat also congratulated Mozambique on its performance during its tenure on the United Nations Security Council, highlighting the experience the country gained in that body. In this context, Bounda requested Mozambique's support for the Republic of Congo's candidacy to join the UN Security Council for the 2030-2031 period.
