🇳🇴 NorwayNorway's Wholesale Settlement Continued Past the Midnight Deadline Into Saturday Morning, As Unions and Employers Sought to Avoid a Strike
The deadline passed at midnight, but Fellesforbundet, Yrkestrafikkforbundet (YTF) and NHO Service og Handel remained in talks to reach an agreement, according to NTB. If the parties fail to agree, around 700 employees could be called out on strike as early as the start of the workday Saturday. Of those affected, 411 work at Rema Distribusjon.
Thon Hotels and Felleskjøpet would also be hit by a potential strike. YTF has announced that 237 of its members at Rema Distribusjon Norge and Kolly would be called out if mediation fails. Combined with Fellesforbundet's planned walkout, around 700 employees could be affected.
According to YTF, the consequences could be felt quickly. A strike could disrupt deliveries from the affected warehouses, leading to shortages of certain goods and empty shelves in stores. The mediation continues on overtime into the night before Saturday.
