Recep Çevik Appointed Chief Prosecutor of Turkish Court of Accounts

The appointment was made with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, under articles 2, 3, and 7 of Presidential Decree No. 3. Çevik, who previously served as a prosecutor at the Court of Accounts, now heads the institution's chief prosecutor's office, which plays a key role in the court's account adjudication processes. According to information on the Court of Accounts' official website, the Chief Prosecutor is appointed by a presidential decision for a four-year term under Presidential Decree No. 3. Opinions prepared by prosecutors on reports subject to adjudication, supplementary reports, and appeal files sent to the office are forwarded to the relevant chambers and the Appeals Board. Prosecutors also participate in account hearings and present their views. The office also handles requests related to appeals, retrials, and correction of decisions.

It monitors cases involving individuals against whom criminal complaints have been filed by the Court of Accounts, as well as processes concerning those who fail to submit requested accounts, information, or documents on time. The office is also responsible for overseeing the execution of Court of Accounts rulings.
