Hong Walks Back Old Posts, Says She Needs Every Vote

Hong, who has faced criticism over old social media posts espousing far-left views, including calls to abolish the police and cancel Thanksgiving, said in an interview that she needs every vote and has walked back some positions, calling many posts jokes. She leads in polls despite a fundraising disadvantage, with her main opponent being Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, who re-entered the race last month and has the endorsement of current Governor Tony Evers. Hong has endorsements from national progressives like Reps.
Ro Khanna and Ilhan Omar, but not from Bernie Sanders or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whom she hasn't spoken. Her campaign focuses on free child care, fully funding schools, taxing billionaires, and a moratorium on AI data centers. The winner will face a Trump-endorsed GOP opponent in November.
