One Suspect Hospitalized, Others Detained in Turkish Asphalt Tender Probe

Turkish police detained 12 suspects in a coordinated operation across four provinces over alleged bid rigging in Avcılar Municipality's 2022 asphalt tender.
The Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office led the investigation, finding that inflated quotes without proper cost research artificially raised the tender price, causing public loss. On August 5, 2026, simultaneous raids were conducted in Istanbul, Ankara, Balıkesir, and Bitlis. One suspect, hospitalized for health reasons, received legal notification instead of detention. Police procedures for the detained suspects continue.
