Fields of Mistria, a Fantasy-themed Farming and Life Simulator From Independent Developer NPC Studio, Has Become a Hit for Fans of Stardew

The game debuted in early access on Steam for PC in August 2024 and racked up more than 4 million player hours in its first month. Set in the small town of Mistria, which is recovering from an earthquake, players grow crops, raise animals, repair buildings, and befriend townspeople like carpenter Ryis and farmer Hayden, whose prize-winning chicken Henrietta is also a friend. The game adds magical powers granted by the dragon Caldarus, including spells to create rain and restore stamina.

It also offers more expansive character creation than Stardew Valley, with gender options including they/them, she/they, and he/they, plus accessibility features like slowing down time. Stardew Valley, created by Eric Barone in 2016, has sold over 50 million copies and inspired many indie farming sims.
