I Have Only Been Here One Day, Adell Said Ahead of His Tuesday Debut

Jo Adell is embracing a playoff push with the Cleveland Guardians after the Los Angeles Angels traded him for catching prospect Jacob Cozart on Monday, just before MLB's Aug. 3 deadline. Adell, who has never appeared in a postseason game in seven MLB seasons, joined a Guardians squad sitting 3.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox in the AL Central.

"I have only been here one day, Adell said ahead of his Tuesday debut. "But the way that everyone works is special. That's what teams that are pushing for the playoffs do.

After six and a half years with the Angels, he relished joining a contender: The support and about wanting to win. And doing it for something that's bigger than yourself. So, that's a vibe you get there when you play here as an opposing team.

You come out here and this is a passionate fan base and the aura about getting the job done. So I'm excited to be a part of it. In his first game, a 6-2 loss to the New York Mets at Progressive Field, Adell started in right field, batted second, and went 2-for-4 with a single, a double, a walk, and one run scored.
