Chipotle Pulls Jalapenos After Salmonella Outbreak Sickens 110 in Minnesota
Chipotle is pulling jalapenos from its restaurants after a salmonella outbreak in Minnesota sickened 110 people, replacing the peppers with produce from another supplier.
The Minnesota Department of Health said most cases were linked to Chipotle, though the source is still under investigation. "Based on all the evidence so far, the food that made people sick was served at other restaurants as well, Carlota Medus, senior epidemiologist supervisor at the health department, said in a statement. Chipotle said it removed the peppers "out of an abundance of caution and is cooperating with authorities.
The FDA is examining multiple ingredients. Shares of Chipotle fell $3.28, or 8.8%, on Tuesday.
