Discovery CEO David Zaslav Loses Bid to Buy Mohawk Day Camp to Fitzwalter Capital

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav lost his bid to buy Mohawk Day Camp in Westchester County, New York, to private equity firm FitzWalter Capital Partners at a bankruptcy auction, court records show.
Zaslav's Grandview Ventures had offered $68 million as the stalking horse bidder for the camp and its affiliated preschool, but FitzWalter won with a $120.75 million bid. The property spans nearly 39 acres and includes a $250,000 playground and a performing arts center. Zaslav's adult children attended the camp, and a spokesperson called the effort a personal family investment.
FitzWalter's plans for the site remain unclear. The camp was part of a larger bankruptcy involving brothers who accumulated debt across dozens of summer camps. A judge is expected to approve the winning bids next week. This is a personal family investment that reflects our lifelong belief that summer camp can be a wonderful part of a child's growth, and Mohawk's history as a successful camp experience for so many kids, including our own, the spokesperson said.
