The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body Handed Greenwood a €30,000 Fine and a One-match Suspended Ban

Guendouzi will miss two Champions League matches this season, including the upcoming games against Roma and Aston Villa. The French midfielder was also fined €50,000. Greenwood was fined €30,000 in addition to his suspended one-match ban. The sanctions stem from incidents at the end of Fenerbahçe's 2-1 away win over Lyon on August 26, which secured the Istanbul club's first Champions League group-stage appearance since the 2008-2009 season.

Guendouzi was involved in arguments with opposing players and Lyon supporters after the final whistle. A Lyon coach also attacked the French player as he headed toward the dressing room, with Fenerbahçe's coaching staff responding to the assault. Fenerbahçe was fined a total of €95,000 for three separate violations.

The club announced it would appeal the decisions, stating in a statement: Our club is evaluating the decisions and their justifications through our legal departments and will pursue the necessary arbitration application and appeal processes against the penalties to the UEFA Appeals Court. UEFA had announced on September 3 that it had opened disciplinary proceedings against the club, Guendouzi, and Greenwood.
