Max Walscheid won the third stage of the ZLM Tour on Thursday, sprinting to victory ahead of Alessio Magagnotti and giving his Lidl-Trek team a third win in three days. The German rider finished ahead of Magagnotti in the sprint, following two previous victories by teammate Mathias Vacek. The stage covered more than 200 kilometers from Roosendaal to Bergen op Zoom, where crosswinds again played a decisive role.

A group of ten strong riders broke clear after the wind played havoc on the ten-kilometer Oesterdam across the Oosterschelde. Race leader Mathias Vacek, his teammate and second-place finisher Walscheid, brothers Tim and Mick van Dijke, Danny van Poppel and Axel van der Tuuk were among the front group. Walscheid launched his sprint early, and the 19-year-old Magagnotti initially followed and nearly passed the German, but faded in the final meters.
