Dean Robertson Seeks Walker Cup Redemption at Lahinch After Tough Year

It has been a difficult year for Dean Robertson, whose father David died in June. David had witnessed more of his son's golf shots than anyone else and shared what Robertson called the "most inspiring experience of my life" when they walked the West Highland Way together in 2003. Robertson mentioned his father's passing in a media interview two weeks ago, and he will certainly be in his thoughts as the Scot leads Great Britain & Ireland into the 51st Walker Cup against the United States at Lahinch in County Clare over the next two days. This is Robertson's second chance to captain the team, having played in the event at Interlachen in Minnesota in 1993 alongside Padraig Harrington, before leading the side in last year's milestone match at Cypress Point in California. Now he seeks singles success as GB&I aim to end a five-match losing run against the Americans.
