Aydos Castle Promotion and Exhibition Hall Opens in Sultanbeyli to Showcase Fortress History

The Aydos Castle Promotion and Exhibition Hall, established by the Sultanbeyli Municipality, has opened to present the castle's rich history through artifacts and exhibits. Sultanbeyli Mayor Ali Tombaş highlighted that historian Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık described Aydos Castle as "the place where the Conquest of Istanbul began." Tombaş said, Aydos Castle is not only an important heritage of our Sultanbeyli but also of Istanbul and our civilization's history. As Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık stated, this place is considered the starting point of the historical process leading to the conquest of Istanbul.

We are embracing this great heritage; while protecting our castle, we are carrying out works that will tell its history accurately and comprehensively. I wish our Promotion and Exhibition Hall to be beneficial to our district, our Istanbul, and history enthusiasts. The exhibition hall displays historical artifacts unearthed during excavation and restoration works, including load-bearing columns and bases, profiled stones used around doors and windows, arch pieces, embossed ornamentation panels, railing panels, iron-clamped stones, and water spout parts.
