Both planes share the same owner and on-site manager, who said maintenance directives were followed. Aviation attorney Jeff Lustick called Diamond planes "perfect" for training and noted the FAA's role in tracking mechanical trends.

The incident follows a January 2024 Boeing 737 Max 9 door-plug blowout on an Alaska Airlines flight, where missing bolts were later found by investigators. Boeing CEO Dave Calhoun admitted a "mistake" and emphasized safety assurances.
