Italian Senators Ask If Foreign Funding for Social Media Pages Is Legal

Italy's Italia Viva party filed a Senate inquiry demanding the government verify whether foreign funding for social media pages operating in Italy is legal, following a report that the sovereignist page Welcome to Favelas participated in a U.S. State Department grant program promoting MAGA culture in Europe. Senators Enrico Borghi, Annamaria Furlan, and colleagues submitted the parliamentary question. The inquiry asks: "Il governo verifichi se i finanziamenti esteri a pagine social operanti in Italia siano leciti" (The government should verify whether foreign funding for social media pages operating in Italy is lawful).
