A spokesperson declined to disclose the number of layoffs or whether any of the three-person leadership team would remain. The company's chief scientific officer departed earlier this year. Aurora appears to have been undercut by Beam Therapeutics, a larger rival that announced its own custom gene editors for the same disease a month after Aurora's launch.
