Teacher Banned for Dishonestly Altering Pupils' Coursework
A teacher who modified pupils' coursework and awarded grades "dishonestly" has been banned from the classroom.
Tandy L'Enfant worked as lead teacher for health and social care at Joseph Whitaker School in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire from September 2023 until she began sick leave on 15 March 2024. On 27 March 2024, the school started an internal investigation into exam malpractice allegations and referred her to the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) on 10 May 2024. One pupil told the panel that L'Enfant "did not really teach us" and would play television shows or movies during class, which were not educational but what the class wanted to watch. The panel accepted there may have been times when the class watched TV shows but lacked precision or corroboration to find it happened every lesson. Instead, the panel focused on coursework authentication failures. It found L'Enfant amended assignments before submission, awarded unjustified grades, failed to maintain actual assessment records, and asked pupils to sign forms confirming work was their own before completion.
