Record National 5 Pass Rates Achieved in Scotland

Scottish pupils achieved record National 5 pass levels, with overall pass rates rising across all qualifications, new figures show. Nearly 270,000 students secured a passing grade at National 5, up from about 262,000 last year. Pass rates improved to 79.2% for National 5, 76.7% for Higher, and 77.6% for Advanced Higher.

A-grade proportions rose for National 5 (40.3%) and Higher (20.9%) but dipped to 30.9% for Advanced Higher. Education Secretary Mairi McAllan called the outcomes incredibly positive, praising students' hard work and noting a narrowing attainment gap between deprived and affluent areas. She highlighted £1.75 billion invested in the Scottish Attainment Challenge over the past decade, with up to £200 million this year.
