Andrew Torre, Visa's Head of Value-added Services, Said Biocatch Will Help Clients Stop Fraud Before Payment

Visa has agreed to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm BioCatch for $2.4 billion in cash to combat AI-driven fraud.
The deal, announced this week, requires regulatory approval and is expected to close before the end of fiscal 2027's second quarter. BioCatch uses behavioral biometrics, analyzing signals like typing rhythm, touchscreen pressure, and device handling to distinguish real account holders from fraudsters or bots, blocking suspicious transactions before they complete. Andrew Torre, Visa's head of value-added services, said BioCatch will help clients stop fraud before payment.
The acquisition reflects a broader shift as generative AI enables more convincing phishing and account takeover attempts. Visa data shows fraud and account takeover cost the global economy over $1 trillion annually.
