The village of 627 residents saw 651 penalty charge notices issued in 2025, up from just 28 in 2019, with fines of £70 (reduced to £35 if paid within two weeks) bringing in roughly £876 a week. Parish council chairman Mr Chapman welcomed the enforcement, saying villagers face a daily 'nightmare' from visitors who park on pavements and double yellow lines, blocking emergency vehicles. The fines, however, don't cover the £4,000-a-month enforcement cost, so pay-and-display parking will be introduced for 24 on-street spaces, with options of £7 for two hours (March-October) or £6, potentially generating up to £218,880 annually and a profit of £360,680 after four years.

A pedestrian area once used for coach parking will become permanent, and a focus group is exploring out-of-village parking. Council leader Lisa Spivey said the proposals aim to make the village safer and reduce congestion, while MP Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown called it 'a great step in the right direction.
