Alice Morrison, a globetrotter and TV presenter, swapped her camels and backup team for a solo wild camping trek along Scotland's Affric Kintail Way. The 44-mile (71km) route took four days, starting from Drumnadrochit and ending near Loch Affric. Morrison, who previously became the first recorded person to walk the full length of Saudi Arabia from Jordan to Yemen in 112 days, sought a low-cost adventure close to home.

She carried a 12kg pack, including four Ferrero Rocher chocolates from her mum, and camped wild each night. Along the way, she explored Comar Wood Dun, a fortified dwelling dating from 400BCE to 200AD, and passed through ancient woodlands over 10,000 years old. Despite constant rain and meeting only eight people in four days, Morrison relished the solitude and the echoes of the past, feeling a deep connection to her Scottish homeland.
