What They Have Done Is Incredible, But the First Division Is Something Else Entirely

Málaga CF sporting director Loren Juarros has warned his players that life in La Liga is a different challenge from the second division, urging them to refocus after their promotion celebrations. "I spoke to the players and told them to come back down to earth. What they have done is incredible, but the First Division is something else entirely.

We're done celebrating. We've already started and we've competed against three great teams, he said in a press conference reviewing the transfer window. Juarros, who is from Burgos, also addressed the club's financial situation, explaining that Málaga is under intervention and that the constraints are not the fault of anyone currently at the club.

"If we can't make the fans understand, together, that this club is under intervention and that it wasn't caused by any of us here... We've tried to solve all the problems that existed. That is the reality of Málaga, he stated. The sporting director clarified the new signings and the situation of a club that has spent the second-least amount of any La Liga side on transfers this summer.

"We are a newly promoted team and we trust we can make it work. We're going to work so that Málaga is what it has to be, but that also carries risks. We can't bring in any player who will win you matches on their own.

Here we are a team. And that's what has brought us this far. This club has been saved by the team, not by four players," he said.

Juarros called on supporters to keep their enthusiasm and back the squad. "I would like people to keep their excitement and support these lads. Let them keep the same idea. We are going to suffer, but we are going to compete and enjoy it," he added.
