Investigators Are Focusing on Ross's Final Hours, Believing They Explain Why the 38-Year-old Was Targeted

Investigators are focusing on Ross's final hours, believing they explain why the 38-year-old was targeted. Suspect Sharif Ahmadzai, accused of intentional homicide on Sunday, faces formal charges Wednesday. He admitted hiding Ross in a suitcase and withdrawing €10,000 with her credit cards but denies murder.
Police suspect a confrontation, possibly over theft or sexual motives. Ross, who arrived from Edinburgh on 26 June, moved into an apartment on 10 July; her last call was 15 July. Forensic tests suggest asphyxiation, with further analysis pending.
Ahmadzai's wife, Alaina Hall, aided the probe after growing suspicious of his movements. Ross's phone was used post-death to send misleading texts. He has admitted to carrying her body in a trolley to the site.
Police have CCTV footage of him doing this on the night of 16 July. He has also confessed to withdrawing €10,000 from AT Ms using credit cards that belonged to her.
