The Council Posted on X That the Israel Defence Forces Would Stay Until the Armed Group's Commitments Are Fulfilled

Trump's Peace Council said Monday that Israeli forces will not fully withdraw from Gaza until Hamas completes disarmament, following talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The council posted on X that the Israel Defence Forces would stay until the armed group's commitments are fulfilled. "We note that the full withdrawal of the Israel Defence Forces beyond the Yellow Line will not take place until the disarmament, to which Hamas committed to the mediators, is completed, the statement said.
The Yellow Line marks the military demarcation between Hamas-controlled areas and Israeli-held territory. The announcement came after a council meeting with Netanyahu as efforts continue to end the conflict now in its third year. The council's roadmap aims to end hostilities, transfer Gaza governance to a new Palestinian administrative body, and oversee phased dismantling of Hamas' military infrastructure, including decommissioning heavy weapons, production facilities, depots, and tunnels under a planned National Committee.
Hamas has signaled readiness to accept a "difficult and painful" deal but insists implementation depends on Israel first meeting earlier ceasefire commitments, including ending operations and withdrawing forces. Israeli officials maintain no full withdrawal until Hamas is disarmed and no longer a threat. The council's statement reinforces that position, making withdrawal conditional on completed disarmament through mediators. The proposal still faces unresolved differences over sequencing of withdrawal, disarmament, and governance."
