Spokesman Ismail Baghaei said Tehran is focused on discussions with Oman over a possible temporary route in the Strait. Trump has repeatedly said a negotiated end to the war is near, but mutual attacks have resumed. He also said Iran and other Middle Eastern countries asked him to delay strikes, and that a "deal framework" had been agreed, including reopening the Strait and ending Iran's nuclear threat.

His comments came after U.S. media reported Washington might be planning new intense strikes on Iran over the weekend. Tehran, which accuses the U.S. of escalating tensions, said on August 1 that any regional country cooperating with Washington would "remain in the flames of war. The U.S. government also urged Americans in the Middle East to be cautious and ready to leave if tensions escalate.

Sources told CBS News that the U.S. and Israel planned one of the heaviest bombardments of Iran's energy infrastructure, discussed at a July 31 cabinet meeting. Trump said the U.S. is "ready and fully equipped" to act against Iran with "unprecedented Military Horror, Power and Might" since World War II, and that canceling the strike was for the world's future benefit and a prosperous Iran's survival. Iran has not yet responded.

Axios reported Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spoke with Trump on August 1, expressing concerns about possible strikes. Washington and Tehran have exchanged escalating attacks since a ceasefire collapsed in June. The U.S. said it completed an "intense wave of strikes" on Iran this week, blockaded Iranian ports, and bombed targets, while Iran has attacked U.S. assets with missiles and drones and targeted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. and Israel began strikes on Iran on February 28, causing significant oil price fluctuations.
