The world's largest semiconductor maker is also pulling forward its 3nm capacity goals, revising monthly output from 175,000 to 180,000 units due to customer pressure. Although the 2nm process hasn't launched yet, it's already a major focus, with TSMC projecting it will account for 3% of revenue in Q3 2026. The company notes four times more design and tape-out activity for 2nm compared to 3nm, signaling future processor architectures will rely on the node. To meet demand, TSMC is making radical capacity increases at its Fab 20 facility. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly planning a shift to 1.4nm to avoid potential supply constraints, especially with products like the iPhone 18 series and AMD's MI455X GPUs on the horizon.
