In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Gopi said government and OMC measures helped ease delivery delays that spiked during the West Asia conflict. Data showed refill times averaged 1.57 days in January and 1.32 days in February, before jumping to 3.79 days in March, 5.54 days in April, and 5.21 days in May. The figure cooled to 3.68 days in June and 2.15 days by late July.

Gopi noted that before the conflict began in February, India imported about 60% of its LPG, with roughly 90% transiting the Strait of Hormuz. Its closure severely constrained supplies. To stabilize domestic supply, authorities imposed temporary demand-management measures, including a 25-day inter-refill gap for urban areas and 45 days for rural areas, plus rationalized stock at bottling plants. OMCs also enforced system controls requiring distributors to clear long-pending bookings on a first-in, first-out basis, which helped identify excessive pendency and improve delivery efficiency, the minister added.
