An X post about a Bengaluru professional who quit an ₹11 lakh-per-year corporate job to run a water purification business in his hometown has sparked a debate online. Ankit Pandey, who shared the story, said his friend returned home and set up the plant on his own property, avoiding rent costs. The business now supplies drinking water to around 300 homes and shops, delivering about 300 cans daily at ₹30 each.

Pandey said daily revenue is nearly ₹9,000, bringing monthly earnings to roughly ₹2.7 lakh. After monthly expenses of about ₹15,000 for purification and electricity and ₹20,000 for transport, the venture earns an average profit of around ₹2.35 lakh per month—approximately ₹28.5 lakh annually, more than double the friend's previous salary. It is the one that solves a daily problem consistently, Pandey wrote, asking users if they would make a similar switch.
