Holland Are on Track to Become the Most Profitable Box Office Actors in a Single Year in Hollywood History, Thanks to the Massive Success

The married couple stars in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and the Marvel sequel Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both dominating global theaters. The Odyssey has earned $911.4m in just over two weeks, while Brand New Day pulled in $927m in its opening weekend, contributing to Hollywood's most successful domestic weekend ever. Zendaya, 29, plays Athena in The Odyssey, and Holland, 30, plays Telemachus, while they reprise their roles as MJ and Peter Parker in the Spider-Man film.

Their combined box office total currently stands at $1.838bn, with both films expected to keep earning. Zendaya's earlier hit The Drama added $132.5m, and she'll star in Dune: Part 3 in December, potentially adding $700m-$800m more. Holland may appear in Avengers: Doomsday, which could surpass $1bn.

The current single-year record holder is Samuel L. Jackson, who amassed $6.4bn in 2019, though that figure includes cameos; without those, his total drops to $2.5bn. Holland previously held second place with $4.367bn in 2019, and Scarlett Johansson is third with $4.024bn. With their films still in theaters and more releases ahead, Zendaya could challenge Jackson's record.
