Kars' Akyaka District Has Been Transformed Into a Rafting Training Site Following Environmental Rehabilitation Efforts'
ZayNewsFast. Clear. Brief.
The area, once synonymous with pollution, now serves as a water sports hub in harmony with nature. On the final day of a camp attended by 60 athletes from various provinces, Kars Governor Ziya Polat joined the participants for a rafting trip through Akyaka Canyon. Polat noted this was the first basic rafting training camp held in the region, saying, "We introduced 60 young people to the sport of rafting.
We don't want federations to just come and go once; we want these events to become institutionalized. Most likely, next year we will hold a development camp here with our Canoe Federation. We also plan to host a leg of the Turkish Rafting Championship at Akyaka Canyon."
