Ranaut also accused other Hindu actors of turning "leftist" after marriage or "coming in contact with Islamists, and questioned why the path to conversion was closed for moderate Hindus like herself. She dismissed criticism over her past lifestyle, saying people dig up 10-year-old stories to put her through an "agni pariksha" (trial by fire), but insisted she now wants to become an "awakened and well-defined Hindu."
