AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik has fiercely rejected comparisons between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Spanish dictator Francisco Franco, calling such remarks a sign of intellectual and moral bankruptcy. In a statement posted on his social media account, Çelik stressed that Erdoğan is the most experienced statesman among world leaders who came to power through democratic elections. "Comparing our President, who holds the highest democratic legitimacy, with a dictator who committed crimes against humanity is intellectual and moral destitution, he said.

Çelik also dismissed claims that the AK Party does not exist, describing them as the wishful thinking of a rotten mindset. He added that those who want to learn the truth should go out into the streets and see the reality for themselves."
