The Data Showed a 19.86% Increase Compared With December of the Previous Year and a 31.90% Rise on a 12-Month Average Basis

Turkey's annual consumer inflation eased to 31.75% in July, down from the previous month, while monthly prices rose 1.78%, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) reported on Monday. The data showed a 19.86% increase compared with December of the previous year and a 31.90% rise on a 12-month average basis. Among the three largest spending categories, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels saw the steepest annual climb at 40.32%, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages at 37.53% and transportation at 30.83%.

These groups contributed 8.94, 5.22 and 5.21 percentage points, respectively, to the annual figure. On a monthly basis, transportation costs rose 2.59%, housing-related expenses increased 2.25%, and food and non-alcoholic beverages were up 1.61%, with contributions of 0.44, 0.27 and 0.40 percentage points, respectively.
