Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday accused opposition parties of double standards over the Ram temple donation controversy, saying those now questioning the handling of funds had once tried to block the temple's construction. Speaking to reporters before the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, Adityanath said the same people had fired at Ram devotees and resorted to lathi-charge when 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans were raised. He alleged they had also tried to stall construction by deploying an army of lawyers in courts.

'They talk about theft of donations meant for the Ram temple, but not a single penny for the temple's construction came from their pockets. The country and the world are watching their double standards, he said. The chief minister appealed to all legislators for constructive debate and highlighted a supplementary budget aimed at boosting financial support for Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, cooks in government programmes and village chowkidars.
