The move would reverse a policy that began phasing out such waivers for new solar, wind, and hybrid projects from July 2025. The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission's draft proposal would benefit projects that missed their commissioning deadlines, provided they signed power sale contracts of at least seven years by December 31, 2026. The waiver would also extend to battery storage systems integrated into renewable projects, with power from those batteries receiving the same exemption. The proposal comes as several clean energy projects remain stalled due to inadequate transmission infrastructure.
