Taiwan Labor Minister to Attend APEC Meeting in China

Hung confirmed on Tuesday that he received the official invitation from APEC and will participate in the APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting on Sept. 21. "Taiwan is a full member of APEC and entitled to take part in its proceedings, wherever they might be," he said. Hung emphasized that APEC is a multilateral cooperative framework with core principles including equal representation, and has served as an important platform for Taiwan's global engagement.

When asked about concerns regarding China's new border management regulations, Hung stated that the event is an international conference and his itinerary would be arranged according to recommendations from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mainland Affairs Council, adding, I am not concerned. The visit underscores ongoing cross-strait interactions despite political tensions, with Taiwan's participation in APEC activities continuing under the framework's rules.
