Border Crossings Were Not Affected During the Incident, According to Authorities

Fire Near Metehan Border Gate in Lefkoşa Damages Properties and Vehicles A fire broke out near the Metehan Border Gate in Lefkoşa, capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), at around 15:30 local time, damaging several homes, businesses, vehicles and animal pens. The blaze, which started along the dividing line with the Greek Cypriot administration, was brought under control and completely extinguished by firefighters. Border crossings were not affected during the incident, according to authorities.
They said the fire is believed to have been caused by a faulty solar panel inverter in a garage and spread from a repair workshop. One workshop, six vehicles, two poultry coops and one donum of grassland were destroyed, while one house was partially damaged. Sixty chickens and three dogs were killed in the fire. The exact cause remains under investigation.
