Istanbul's Chamber of Commerce Has Released Its Monthly Price-tracking Data for July, Showing That Pointed Peppers Saw

Istanbul's Chamber of Commerce (İTO) has released its monthly price-tracking data for July, showing that pointed peppers saw the steepest increase while cherries recorded the largest drop. According to the index covering 336 major products, prices rose for 199 items and fell for 68 compared with the previous month. The sharpest increase was 103.57% for pointed peppers (sivri biber), followed by 98.71% for Charleston peppers, 41.77% for bell peppers, 37.44% for daily car rental fees, 29.25% for dry onions, 27.27% for spinach, 25.43% for diesel fuel, 20.36% for laboratory test fees and 20.18% for specialist doctor examinations.

Other notable increases included surgery fees at 20.18%, toys at 19.33%, strawberries at 17.08%, wine at 15.58%, potatoes at 14.45%, beer at 12.73% and intercity bus tickets at 12.38%. On the downside, cherries fell the most at 39.57%, followed by cucumbers at 23.79%, green beans at 22.38%, watermelons at 17.50%, lemons at 17.20%, melons at 16.69%, curly lettuce at 10.77%, oranges at 7.48% and peaches at 6.71%. Further declines were recorded for eggs (6.34%), green onions (5.88%), parsley (4.14%), children's shoes (4.06%), women's skirts (3.99%), women's blouses (2.94%) and eggplants (2.68%).
