Liquid From Large Tubs of Lemon Water in Which They Had Dipped Their Feet — for About $7 a Cup, the South China Morning

At an anime convention in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, Chinese cosplayers sold “foot water” — liquid from large tubs of lemon water in which they had dipped their feet — for about $7 (332 Turkish liras) a cup, the South China Morning Post reported. The cosplayers sat with their feet in the lemon-water tubs, ladling the “drink” into cups for attendees. Once the stand, described as being “for entertainment purposes, attracted a steady stream of buyers, organizers removed it and the cosplayers from the venue and banned such activities, citing the event's reputation.
Anime fans at the fair queued up to buy the concoction, and one person was seen trying to drink water dripping from a woman's foot. Chinese social media users reacted with disgust; one wrote: “Are there really people this perverted? Buying someone's foot-washing water to drink — and at 50 yuan a cup! Anime conventions have gained rapid popularity in China in recent years, with attendance reaching as many as 400,000.””
