Two French streamers were sentenced Wednesday by a court in Nice for violence against Jean Pormanove, whose death during a live stream sparked national outrage. Owen C., 27, known as Naruto, received two years in prison with a suspended sentence, while Safine H., 24, got 18 months suspended. Both were convicted of group violence and incitement to hatred against Pormanove and two others in the year before his death on Aug.

Prosecutors had sought harsher penalties, including probation and a one-year prison term for Naruto. The case emerged from a streaming channel in Contes, near Nice, where Pormanove and a man under guardianship were subjected to egg-throwing, insults, and beatings for viewers.
