On Sunday, a 74-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession of a firearm. All five remain in custody for questioning. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker called the arrest a significant development, noting that Ward's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A police cordon remains in place at the traveller site in Calcutt while inquiries continue. I’d like to thank the local community for their support and patience since Sunday. We understand this incident has caused significant concern, so please consider speaking with officers about any information or concerns you may have.
