Udhayanidhi Stalin's Wife Asks Police to Wait As He Hides in Bathroom

A viral video from his residence showed his wife, Kiruthiga, a filmmaker and writer in Tamil cinema, speaking with waiting police officers.
She said her husband was in the bathroom and asked for more time: "He's in the toilet. Please give him some time. Tamil Nadu minister Ma Subramaniam also appealed for patience, warning that a delay could attract crowds and cause complications: "If you take him at 9.30 AM or 10.30 AM or at 11, there will be backlash from the public.
The officer insisted they were performing their lawful duty and couldn't wait indefinitely. Critics joked that Udhayanidhi had "hidden in the toilet" out of fear. After detention, Udhayanidhi said he wasn't worried about consequences and questioned whether courts would prioritise speech over women's dignity.
He denied saying anything wrong and claimed the arrest lacked justification. On Monday, crowds interrupted his speech chanting Trisha, Trisha. The opposition has often weaponised the rumoured relationship between Trisha and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay.
