Rijiju Accuses Congress, CPI, SP of Being Anti-lord Ram

Rijiju demanded an apology from the Opposition for insulting Lord Ram. His remarks came as Opposition MPs, led by Rahul Gandhi, protested the theft and police action against student protesters on July 20. Later, Rijiju held a nearly 50-minute meeting with Gandhi, attended by Congress MPs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Gaurav Gogoi and KC Venugopal, to break the parliamentary deadlock. Rijiju sought the Congress' views on the proposed Delimitation Bill and discussed the possible reintroduction of the Delimitation and Women's Reservation Bills, but Congress did not commit to supporting the government's agenda.

Gandhi maintained that a statement by Union home minister Amit Shah on police action against students protesting the NEET paper leak and a discussion on the alleged donation embezzlement were non-negotiable. SP president Akhilesh Yadav intensified his attack, saying, Those who have stolen 'Ram Dhan' will not be allowed to win this time by Lord Shri Ram.
