Kenza, 15, From Fez, Shows a Scalp Scab From a Stone Thrown on Arrival

Ceuta remains overwhelmed by migrant adults and children surviving among warehouses, queues, streets, cemeteries, scrubland and industrial estates. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska said at a press conference that fundamental rights of minors and adults are respected in Spain, seeking to close debate. But on the ground, hundreds of children tell a different story: beatings, hunger, fear, nights without shelter, amid trash and graves, exposed to sexual predators.

Kenza, a 15-year-old from Fez, shows a scab on her scalp from a stone thrown on arrival. She says elders took her to hospital, but she was not treated. Rida, 12, from Tetuán, has been in Ceuta for 10 days, limping with bandaged knee and finger, barely eating for eight days.

He says a journalist gave him money for food. He and two friends reached the Príncipe district, where a fight broke out: they were chased, shown a pistol, and a friend was cut with a knife. Rida ran, jumped a wall, and was hit. Police took him to emergency, then returned him to the Cash Diplo warehouse in the Tarajal industrial estate, a Spanish favela where hundreds of children sleep among rubble, garbage and urine smell.
