Jack Draper broke down in tears during his first-round comeback defeat by Térence Atmane at the Canadian Open in Montreal, losing 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. The 24-year-old Briton was playing for the first time since withdrawing from Wimbledon with a recurrence of a bruised bone in his left arm. He appeared visibly upset during a changeover in the third set, with his serve speed dropping significantly. He holds a wildcard for the Cincinnati Open next week, but doubts remain over his participation and his fitness for the US Open.
