Rate-sensitive Sectors Such As Banking, Realty, Nbfcs, and Auto Stocks Remained in Focus

Indian stock markets opened cautiously higher on Wednesday, August 5, as a sharp fall in crude oil prices and record Wall Street gains offset uncertainty ahead of the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision. The Sensex opened 626 points higher at 79,055.38 versus the previous close of 78,428.95, while the Nifty 50 opened marginally flat at 24,669.20 against 24,614.90. The RBI's Monetary Policy Committee kept the benchmark repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and retained its neutral stance for the fourth consecutive meeting, a decision widely anticipated by market players. Rate-sensitive sectors such as banking, realty, NBFCs, and auto stocks remained in focus.
LIC shares rose 1.5% in early trade to ₹397.25 as the government's offer for sale opened for retail investors. The rupee gained 39 paise to 94.89 against the US dollar, supported by falling crude prices amid progress in US-Iran talks. BSE shares fluctuated after opening about 1% higher despite strong June quarter earnings.
The lead-acid battery market is projected to grow from Rs 49,140 crore in FY2026 to Rs 64,895 crore by FY2030, a CAGR of 7.2%, with global growth from US$51.4 billion in CY2025 to US$67.2 billion by CY2030 at 5.5%. Ardee Industries is positioned to benefit from this environment. Indian government bonds were set to open firmer, with the benchmark 6.94% 2036 bond yield expected in the 6.80%-6.83% range. Bitcoin traded near $64,260, up 0.7% over 24 hours.
