Social Media Users Also Slammed the Comment As Vulgar

DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin was detained Tuesday after Tamil Nadu chief minister Vijay's TVK filed police and National Commission for Women complaints alleging offensive remarks against actor Trisha Krishnan. The comments came during a Thanjavur speech on the Cauvery water dispute, when the audience chanted "Trisha, Trisha, prompting Stalin to pause, smile, and respond with a remark tied to the Cauvery project. TVK called the comments "double-meaning, drawing criticism from MLA Rhevanth Charan, who called them "disgusting" and accused the DMK of lowering political discourse standards.

MDMK's Durai Vaiko condemned the remarks as derogatory and against women, saying the event should have focused on Cauvery and farmers' concerns. Social media users also slammed the comment as vulgar and indecent. TVK announced a statewide protest Tuesday.

The DMK denied the allegations, with leader TR Baalu saying Stalin never mentioned any individual. Stalin has sought anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court, and police were seen escorting him from his residence.
