Israel launched intense airstrikes on Lebanon on March 2 and occupied several towns in the south, displacing over 1 million people. A 10-day ceasefire that took effect on April 17 was extended by three weeks on April 24, then by 45 days on May 17 following a third round of US-mediated talks. Lebanon's Health Ministry reported 4,333 deaths from Israeli attacks since March 2. A framework agreement was signed on June 26 after a fifth round of direct negotiations in Washington.
