Allen Was Carted to the Locker Room Saturday With a Shin İnjury, While Worthy Was Evaluated for a Shoulder Sprain

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said Monday that wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Cyrus Allen are expected to return to practice later this week after both suffered injuries late last week. Allen was carted to the locker room Saturday with a shin injury, while Worthy was evaluated for a shoulder sprain. The updates come as the Chiefs' receiver room remains a key storyline in training camp, with Rashee Rice still rehabbing from right knee debridement surgery in May.
Fifth-round rookie Allen had built a strong rapport with Patrick Mahomes during the first week of practice, while Worthy, who missed several games last year, has been a dangerous offensive weapon over the past two seasons. The Chiefs are coming off a 6-11 season, their lowest win total since 2012, and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2014. Mahomes is working his way back from a torn ACL and LCL, and Travis Kelce, now 36, is nearing the end of his career. The Chiefs open the preseason Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Los Angeles Rams at Arrowhead Stadium.
